Overview

Our first lab project consists of setting up a geospatial analysis to facilitate evaluation of two proposed pipeline routes in Uganda.

  • Create a project workspace and gather/prepare necessary data
    • Examine and repair provided data: guessing at unknown projections
    • Obtaining public domain data from spatial data clearinghouses
    • Reprojecting data
  • Executing spatial analyses
    • Buffering features
    • Summarizing raster data found within polygon zones
    • Tabulating areas of intersection among polygon features
    • Clipping line features with polygon features
  • Reporting results
